Garden City

My teammate Mike picked me up from the airport this morning in his sports car. I looked through the music on his phone, and we have a ton of music in common. This is great because I didn't bring an mp3 player with me and we're going to listen to so many jams.

Mike's house is beach themed and it's a half mile walk to the beach from here. His parents found out that I had never been to Krispy Kreme's, which warranted an emergency drive in the back of their golf cart. There are a lot of golf carts on the road here. I got an original glazed donut, and almost swallowed it whole.

Another teammate's here, Kevin from Indiana. Together we walked over to the beach. These are our last few days on the east coast, before making our way to the west coast, and not seeing the ocean for most of the summer. We grabbed food at Sam's Corner - a diner by the pier where you can get $0.05 coffee and $5 white Russians.

"wow" "wow"

By the time we left Sam's Corner, it was beginning to rain. Kevin and I were wondering which way would be the quickest to get back to Mike's when his parents pulled up in the golf cart! Totally saved the day, and my lunch. On our way back, they stopped to tell us about the marshes and the pluff mud. His dad said that there once was a boy who got caught in the pluff mud one day as he was oystering at low tide. He "hollered and hollered, but no one came before the tide took him in. They say at low tide you can still hear the hollers of the little boy who got swallowed by the pluff mud."
