OKC!

Build days in OKC

We spent two days building in Oklahoma City. I was painting and hammering for most of that time, and spotting my teammates on ladders.

Oklahoma City had some stark contrasts. It was the urbanized state capital surrounded by farms. The destruction from recent tornadoes juxtaposed the revitalization efforts around the capital.

But when the work was done for the day, we got to explore Oklahoma City. The first night, lots of folks went out and I went to bed at 8pm. The next evening I felt rested enough to go on a walk. Dan came with me, and we walked around town until we heard music. "Let's go find the music." We found ourselves at the art museum. I sweet talked the ticket sales lady and we scored free passes. We took the elevator to the roof of the art museum, where there was a band playing, people dancing, and the sun setting. Dan's tan lines got the attention of two people, and we told them what we were up to with Bike & Build. Turns out one of the women is a massage therapist. The next evening, she came to the host site and gave us chair massages at half price.
