This
was our shortest mileage day: 34.9 miles. I could have done it, but don’t want
to put additional stress on my wrist just yet. I slept in the van and the
riders said I didn’t miss much: just fields and fields of crops. Everyone was
in a good mood because we got to sleep in until 7 (that’s an extra 3.5 hours of
sleep for me!), it was Emma’s birthday, an easy riding day, and prom was that evening!
The
van can be a restful and soothing place, but it can also be very hectic because
of all the things that need to be done. Lacy and I got lost a few times, had to
pick up a rider’s prom outfit, went to a fast food restaurant for Internet
access, got gas, went to a wig store out of town for a rider, and then stopped
at a barber shop to pick up a stereo system for prom.
Bike
& Build prom has been a month in the making – since Trinidad, Colorado!
It’s so classic Bike & Build because we don’t need much to be happy,
planned it ourselves, and had no budget. The event really came together at the
last minute. Austin made some phone calls and reserved a pavilion at a park in
a beautiful canyon. Chris got a hairdresser to lend us speakers for music. Nyx
photographed everyone in their thrift store outfits. I put together the
superlatives for prom: Best Male Twerk, Cutest Couple, Best Air Guitar
Performance, to name a few. The event itself was a ton of fun, lots of dancing,
and an overall really memorable night.
