Lakeview, OR to Alturas, CA
The morning wake-up music were all songs about California. I was leading the pack, and was the first person to reach our last state line. It felt a bit lonely to be the only SC2SC rider in California while everyone else was still in Oregon, but everyone else soon arrived. At the state sign we took lots of pictures, danced, hugged, and someone even broke out bottles of sparking apple cider to celebrate.
I rode to lunch with Ethan, then rode ten miles with Brian, and then we picked up Austin for the last ten miles.
California is so pretty, especially after following the desolation of Oregon's deserts.
The afternoon was spent doing laundry, cleaning the van, getting my mom's care package (thanks mom!), attending and team "family" meeting, eating a delicious dinner complete with brownie cheesecakes, and then cleaning my bike. We're finally in California!
