Leaving South Carolina

We are finally making our way out of South Carolina, and crossing into Georgia. The views from the scenic route have been incredible: horses, hay bales, cows, magnolia trees, corn, wheat, and tree farms. The rolling foothills of the Appalachian mountains have been great training for the mountains and more difficult terrain ahead. We have been riding for a week now, and I'm happy to report that I'm not facing any serious soreness or pain. Even with my bike fitting me well, I expect to feel sore after a long day of riding - does anyone bike the U.S. without feeling tired sometimes? Although I'm sleeping on hard floors, sometimes with lights or noise, I'm getting great sleep. The team jokes that this trip is "Bike & Build & Eat & Sleep" because that's all we do. However, we do find time to frolic in wheat fields like this one.

Swimming time!
It's amazing to think we're about 10% into our trip, and it's only just begun! One state down, 12 states to go, and just another 4,000 miles!
